Work Opportunities
• Emergency cover /Day to day/ short term work is a great way to gain experience of working in a variety of different schools. The placements can range in length from half a day to a few weeks and you can either be based in one school or several different schools each week. These placements are usually covering sickness or courses and can be booked in advance or on the morning of the absence. This type of work allows you the most flexibility and freedom.
• Long Term work requires you to take on the responsibility and role of a full time classroom teacher. The placements can range in length from a few weeks or half a term, to a whole term or longer. These placements are usually as a consequence of sickness or maternity leave and you will become involved in the whole school community and treated like a full time member of staff.
• Permanent Work is often an extension of a long term placement and is when the educational establishment employs you directly.
As with all of our candidates if you wish to register for any of the above roles you will be required to complete our full registration process which includes a face to face interview and provide us with the following necessary documentation.
Newly Qualified Teachers
Supply teaching is a particularly useful option for Newly Qualified Teachers, both in terms of its flexibility and the wide variety of experience it offers.
Please note as an NQT you are only permitted to undertake 4 terms (16 months) on short term supply unless you are actively completing your induction during this time. The 4 terms rule would commence on the 1st day of paid supply teaching.
If you are unable to complete your NQT induction during this time then you would need to apply for an extension via your LEA for up to 12 months. For further advice please contact your local LEA.
Overseas Teachers
Many teachers from New Zealand, Australia, Canada, South Africa and other parts of the world come to the UK for an experience of a life time. Many teachers come to the UK on a working holiday visa (Commonwealth Citizens). The experience you can gain in the UK in different types of schools from inner city to rural areas, from London to Manchester, is an experience not to be missed.
Schools are looking for overseas teachers to help with day to day supply teaching and long term work in both the primary and secondary sector.
We employ overseas trained teachers providing that you are already in the UK and have the necessary documentation.
